Dr. rer. nat. Peter Weiss

German and european patent attorney and also european trademark and design attorney.
He studied forestry and law in Freiburg. Since he did not feel like beeing that kind of person
who finishes his work as a forest officer at 5 pm he trained to become a patent attorney.
He worked in the patent department of the swiss aluminium factory for six years and in august
1984 he finally founded his own office.
As an assistant lecturer at the export acadamy Baden-Württemberg in Reutlingen, the golden
badge of honour has been awarded to him.
Beside his wife and his children he enjoys playing tennis, skiing and travelling.

Petra Arat

German and european patent attorney and also european trademark and design attorney.
Becoming a patent attorney was her career wish already when she was a child. Because of that
she followed in her fathers footsteps, studied forestry in Freiburg as well and completed her
professional education in the office aftes that. She also spent half a year at a well known patent attorney office in Boston.
She is a mother of two children and is doing a good job juggling her family and business.

JUDr. Dogan Arat

As an Attorney at Law professional representative before the European Patent Office and legal representative before the German Patent Office.
He studied law in Freiburg, Kiel and Ankara and is specialized in the field of european, german and turkish patent and trademark law.
Since 2007 he is working with us in our office and became a partner on 01.01.2008.
He is also listed as mediator (DAA) in the list of mediators at the Bar Association Freiburg.

Ute Kimmling

Attorney at law.
She is responsible for the trademarks and design patent law. Further parts are the competition
and copyright law.
She studied law in Cologne and did her legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court in Cologne.
Ute Kimmling worked in well-respected economy companies in Cologne, Mainz and at the Lake
of Constance for yeras and gained a lot of versatiled legal excperience.
2006 she graduated a seminar for trade and company law. Since 2013 she is supporting our office.

Bärbel Straub

Qualified patent law assistant.
She completed her professional education in the office in 1986 and since then she is an
indispensable member of the staff . Her knowledge on the field of patent law she achieved over the years makes her the right hand particularly of the chiefs. Her handling with the keyboard and especially with the respect to the speed of typing make many people turn pale.

Alexandra Mitsch

Qualiefied patent law assistant.
In 1998 she completed her professional education in the office, as well. After finishing her
education she remained with us. She is particularly responsible for the monitoring of the
annual fees and of the priority periods. Someone who is familiar with our work knows how
important these domains are.

Renate Schäfer

Industrial business management assistant, further education as an accountant.
Since 2010 she is doing the accounting and everthing what has to do with financal
things for the office.

Michael Maier

German and european patent attorney and also european trademark and design attorney.
He studied Life Science in Constance and graduaded as a master in 2012. He gained practical experience in the industry during his internship at Roche Diagnostics GmbH. With Weiß, Arat & Partner mbB since 2012.
